LABEL—Laboratoire sur les élections locales—is a research laboratory for developing knowledge on municipal elections in Canada. Created in December 2014, it brings together social scientists interested in the formation of the local political scene.
LABEL is part of the Urbanisation Culture Société research centre of the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) in Montreal and is directed by Sandra Breux. The laboratory is funded by the Villes Régions Monde network, which is in turn funded by the Fonds québécois de recherche Société et Culture.
The objective of LABEL is twofold. One is to decipher the Canadian municipal scene, of which researchers and citizens generally know little. The other is to pool a body of data on municipal elections in Canada.
